Desiree Williams - Bass

Ok so here I am the foundation of rock! Not many people can say that they were in the world’s greatest band ------and be able to say that they were in it twice!!! Soon enough the rest of this earth will catch on. I became interested in music at an early age thanks to Elvis and the Beatles. I started out playing guitar at age 9 before switching to bass guitar at age 15. Thankfully, I had a lot of support from my parents, because I would not have been able to afford my first guitar since bottle deposits did not exist yet!!!! In my teenage years, I was into the heaviest of rock. I played speed metal for example, Megadeth, White Zombie type styles. So it was quite entertaining to audition for Big Sister in 1994. I did not know the first thing about playing blues or funk but I faked it, so I thought. Luckily enough, the girls had faith in me. I don’t think that any of us realized the amazing musical connection that Lara, Shelly, Lisa & I were going to end up forming. I left Big Sister in 2000, only to find out what I had already known; these are my life long, fellow rock goddesses and soul mates. So it is now 2002 & I am back so that we can now continue where we had left off. Here are some of my EARLY INFLUENCES: The King (thank you, thank you very much), The Beatles, Kiss (as strange as it sounds), Led Zeppelin & The Who. FAVORITE SINGERS past, present future: Aretha, Michael Hutchence, Sheryl Crow, Ann Wilson and Lara Parks (pretty ironic huh?) FAVORITE GUITARISTS: Albert Collins, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Shelly Prior and Jen Leigh. FAVORITE BASSISTS: Larry Graham, John Paul Jones, Paul McCartney, Bootsey Collins, James Jamerson, John Entwhistle and Flea. FAVORITE PEOPLE THAT BANG ON SHIT: John Bonham, Matt Chamberlain & Lisa Wexler, also check out Deb Piccolo another bad ass drummer (www.swivelhips.com)
