Lara Parks - Lead Vocals, Guitar

So you want to know about me, do ya? .

.....Shucks, I hope I can convey how fascinating I am in this little essay! The true story of the first time I ever sang on stage goes like this: My dad ( a folk/blues songwriter who you've never heard of) was performing on stage in a local cafe while I suppodedly slept nearby in my carriage. During "Wake Up Little Suzie" he noticed I had climbed out and made my way to him on the stage. He lifed me up to hand me to my mom and I grabbed the mic and sang "Wake Up Little Suzie" into it. I love that story. I don't remember it happening at all. I remember the first time I was embarassed though. It's so funny. It was the Macy's Day Parade in NYC..you know, they close off all these streets...it's HUGE. Anyway, I'm wearing some kind of elastic waisted 70's kids cords or something (ladybugs? who knows) and I'm with my Grandma who is bold enough to decide that we are crossing the street even though its blocked off and so many thousands of people are watching us do it and then SNAP the elastic breaks in the waist of my pants and they fall to the GROUND and SO MANY THOUSANDS of people are laughing at me!!!! HEY, EVEYBODY should post the story of the first time you remember being embarrased in the GUESTBOOK. That will be fun. I guess I got a little off track but that's very much typical of me. I like to tell stories. Lisa, Shelly, and I have been playing music together for 12 years (since I was 16). We really can't help ourselves. When I first met Shelly she played the bass. Lisa bought her her first guitar because she just wanted Shelly to play the guitar. This is very Wexlervian. I taught Shel guitar scales and the 3 of us would jam on the same slow 1-4-5 blues progression forever. I used to be Shelly's guitar hero but then she practiced a whole lot and I didn't. HEH, heh. I started playing for real when I was about 13. I studied at the National Guitar Summer Workshop in CT when I was 13, 14, 15...They have great teachers there and I met a lot of cool people. I don't know who my influences are cause it's hard to have an objective view of that. I love Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Zeppelin, especially John Paul Jones, Bob Dylan, Janis, The Stones, Neil Young...More recently Jane's Addiction & Porno for Pyros, Prince, Beck, Macy Gray, the Chilipeppers, Beastie Boys. FAVORITE SINGERS: Otis Redding, Janis, Jimi, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin FAVORITE BASS PLAYERS: John Paul Jones, Paul McCartney, Flea FAV ORITE GUITAR PLAYERS: B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughn , JIMI Hendrix. I GUESS John Bonham is my favorite drummer. Well, I think I've said enough. Now you all know why record companies write the BIOS for the band members! You can post any questions for me in the guestbook if you wanna and I'll write back.
